This private, adrenaline-pumping journey takes you far off the beaten path. Guided by our local off-road experts, you will take the wheel of a powerful, state-of-the-art buggy. Feel the thrill as you navigate rugged highland trails, splash through dynamic, unbridged glacial rivers, and cruise past volcanic black sand floodplains and ancient birch forests.

Because this is a private tour, you dictate the pace. Duration

This tour takes between  6 and 7 hours, so we have an early start, at 9 in the morning at the latest. Please note that access to bathrooms during our tour is sparse.

  • Transportation to the meeting point at the Buggy X-treme base (Fossalda 1, Hella) unless otherwise arranged.
  • Personal travel insurance.

  • A valid, full driver’s license is strictly required for anyone operating the buggy cars.
  • All our tours are subject to weather, river, and road conditions. Your safety is our absolute priority, and routes may be adjusted if nature demands it.
  • Due to the bumpy and rugged terrain, this tour is not recommended for pregnant women or individuals with severe back, neck, or heart conditions.

What do I need to bring

  • A valid driver's license (physical copy required for non-Icelandic drivers).
  • Warm, insulating underlayers (fleece or wool).
  • Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots.
  • Wind and waterproof outer layers (jacket and trousers).
  • A camera to capture the extraordinary landscapes!
  • A packed lunch or snacks (if not opting for the BBQ experience) and a reusable water bottle.

Cancellation policy

We offer a 100% refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure, or no-shows, are non-refundable.

  • Passengers: 8 years old (this tour is not suitable for children under the age of 8).
  • Drivers: 17 years old (must hold a valid driver's license).

Pick-up and drop-off

Our starting location for this trip is Fossalda in Hella. We can, however, for an extra fee, bring the buggy cars to your location if required.
