Day Tour

Want a whole day of X-treme? We do offer Day Tours to the highlands all year - when the weather and road conditions are favourable. The most comfortable way to travel to Landmannalaugar is in our opinion in a Buggy car. You will be able to take in the whole highland scenery, be closer to nature and feel the fresh mountain air in your face. The tour starts in Hella where you will get all geared up. You will get helmets, balaclavas, gloves and high-quality overalls to make you feel comfortable on the way, no matter the weather. Our guide will explain all about safety and answer any questions you may have. We will drive from Hella on a narrow muddy road and head towards the active Volcano Hekla. Hekla is one of the best-known volcano in Iceland and last erupted in the year 2000. From your seat, you will be able to see the young and sensitive flora and also witness the birdlife in this area. We will stop at Þjófafoss, a beautiful, photogenic waterfall in the Þjórsá river, the longest river in Iceland. From there we will drive into the highlands towards Landmannalaugar. We will drive through moss-covered lava fields and stop at a unique, quiet lake. We will then continue our journey towards Landmannalaugar and stop at some more interesting places on the way. When we reach Landmannalaugar you will have the opportunity to bathe in the hot springs or explore the area on foot. Make sure you bring your bathing suit if you would like to bathe. The natural warm water pool there is quite unique and an ideal bathing place all year around – with temperature of around 36-40 °C, even in the midst of a snowy winter. Meanwhile, our guide will prepare a nice meal for you to enjoy when you take in the amazing colourful scenery. When you have finished discovering Landmannalaugar we will head back to Hella. We will explore the surroundings on the way back. The Landmannalaugar area is located on the spit of land between the Jokulgilskvisl and Namskvisl rivers.

6-7 hours guided buggy tour, helmets, balaclavas, water resistant suit and gloves. All food and drinks are included.
